Coppicing Products
Hazel can produce a number of shoots which, depending on how long they are left to grow, can be harvested as rods, poles or logs. We call a product under 2.5cm in diameter a rod, under 7.5cm in diameter a pole and anything bigger a log.
The harvested wood can be used to make bean poles, pea sticks, washing line props, hedging, charcoal, firewood, hurdle fences, wattle and daub,basketry,tool handles,thatching spars,charcoal,etc.
